The Local Reality

Many of our neighbors cannot easily reach traditional food pantries. Long bus routes. Irregular work hours. No reliable transportation. When food requires a ride across town, it can quietly become out of reach. By placing food where people already are, we bring hope within walking distance.

As the Bethel Road corridor continues to grow—especially as a welcoming home for newly arrived immigrant families—the need for walkable food access continues to rise.

The need is here in our own community. And we are choosing to respond.

The distance tells a story.

On the map below, Northwest Columbus—the community we serve—is highlighted in blue, stretching between the Scioto and Olentangy Rivers, from State Route 161 to Henderson Road.

The purple heart marks Bethel’s Blessing Box and Community Fridge.

Nearby food pantries are marked in red.

The Blessing Box & Community Fridge

Bethel International UMC is closing the food access gap in Northwest Columbus through 24/7 walk-up access to shelf-stable and fresh food — no forms, no questions, no stigma.

Blessing Box
Located on the southeast exterior of our main building and restocked daily with shelf-stable essentials.
Community Fridge
Located on the north-facing side of our garage and regularly stocked with fresh, perishable food in partnership with Food4AllCbus.
Together, these resources ensure food is always within reach — day or night.

This is not a handout. It is a shared act of love.
